MCC 2015: Week 8: Games of Chance

The theme for the final week of camp is Games of Chance! Campers and staff had a wonderful time watching the meteor shower, All-camp activities and many games!

On Monday the campers had electives! They were able to choose between tie dying, musical chairs, knockout, or a dance party. We played music chairs with a twist. The counselors made a large dice and one camper would roll it. The number that popped up was the camper who was out.

On Tuesday the CITs lead activities in the evening! They played a new version of escape from camp! All campers had to go to different CIT stations. The CITs had special cards that either helped or hindered the campers. The campers and staff enjoyed this new version immensely. We also had a chance to play ultimate warrior and water balloon games. The campers received awards for the best sportsmanship with each of the games.

On Wednesday, we had our cook out at lunch instead of our normal cookout at dinner. In the evening we did all camp. They played many games of chance, a version of deal or no deal, bingo, and card games.

Thursday’s ORT dance was quite the sight to see at lunch. All of the staff grabbed pots and pans and danced around. Then the dance was finally here! The campers enjoyed the extended time and danced their hearts out.

The end of week 8 brings happy memories and a sense of ending for the summer. Here at MCC we hope that you enjoyed your summer as much as we all did! See you next year!

MCC 2015: Week 7: Glow in the Dark

The theme this week is Glow in the Dark and Laser Tag! Campers and staff had a blast this week with all of the enjoyable activities planned. Campers slept out in the woods, participated in laser tag, and danced with glow sticks!

On Monday the campers were able to choose between tie dying and ooblick making, capture the flag, and a gaga tournament. The theme of glow in the dark was all throughout camp! For capture the flag the campers and the flag were decked out in glowsticks. The gaga tournament was played with a glow in the dark ball!

On Tuesday all of the campers walked out into the woods to begin their journey of the sleep out. The campers got their sleeping spots ready and ate dinner over a fire. After bonding time there was an all-camp game of scout! Once scout had finished everyone trekked back into the woods to their camp site and fell asleep to the sounds of the night.

On Wednesday, campers were split into 10 groups and did round robin with laser tag, ice cream social, dodge ball, glow in the dark Nuke-Em, and balloon pop. The laser tag field was a sight to be seen. The campers and staff alike were diving and running around the obstacles. Everyone was filled with adrenaline and excitement.

Thursday was finally the dance! The campers were given glow sticks and the Morton building was decorated with Glow in the Dark paint and more glow sticks! The campers had a blast and danced their hearts out.

With week seven coming to a close it is nice to reflect on the wonderful time that everyone had. The campers and the staff bonded in a way that is sure to leave amazing memories for all.

MCC 2015: Week 6: Time Travel

The theme this week was time travel! Campers were able to learn about different time eras. Campers slept out in the woods, participated in exciting all-camp activities, and finished the week off “shaking it off” at the energy-filled dance.

On Monday, campers were able to chose between three activities; tie-dye, water aerobics, or ultimate Frisbee.

On Tuesday, each cabin ventured out into the woods to set up where they would be sleeping and making a fire to cook their food. After eating and bonding with their cabins, all campers met for an all-camp game of scout. Once scout was over, each cabin went back to their campsite and looked at the stars as they fell asleep.

On Wednesday, campers were split into groups and participated in activities held during different eras. Each group worked together while making a dance that incorporated moves from all different ages, building and racing box cars, a spin on the game ships and sailors, and searching for “dinosaur bones” in the volleyball court. As the night ended, campers were treated with ice-cream topped with delicious treats of their choice.

The dance finally came on Thursday. Although it started raining, that did not stop campers and staff from having a fun filled night. The quiet cabins after the dance was a sign of a successful, eventful week.

In all, campers seemed to have an amazing week at camp, and they are hopefully able to bring home memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
