For the first week we survived the heat and celebrated 4th July!
At electives the campers had the option to play board games, make friendship bracelets or play ‘Capture the flag’, which were all lots of fun.
All Camp included many different water games like the water balloon toss, over and under races with ‘wubble balls’ and shooting water pistols at upturned cups, which became very intense and exciting. Then there was the activity of creating a boat which would hold the most buttons, using: paper, aluminum foil, 6 straws and masking tape, which produced a variety of great designs and held well over 300 buttons!
Campers really enjoyed playing ‘drip, drip, splash,’ which saw everyone completely soaked!
For the 4th of July we had a great BBQ which consisted of burgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, corn on the cob and vegetable kebabs. Dessert was in keeping with the red, white and blue theme as it was white ice-cream, with strawberries and blueberries.
The counselors demanded their independence and the campers had to find where they were hiding, which was no mean feat. Finally, there were amazing fireworks and sparklers to end the evening.
In Arts and Crafts the campers made invitations to the dance, wind chimes and mini drums; all with a 4th July, red, white and blue theme.
Outdoor Adventure created the most incredible shelters, which were tested for waterproofing by having water thrown at them, with the campers who made them, inside. Fires were also made and they went to the stream.
Sports core were active with basketball, volleyball, 4 Square and soccer.
Wall core were busy climbing and got a nice breeze doing the zip line.
In Music core the campers have been doing lots of beautiful singing, which it is lovely to hear all around the camp. They have a 4th July themed number to sing at Candlelight.
The first dance of the summer included many favorite requests from campers and staff. There were red, white and blue glow sticks, too. Everyone had a great time!
