Former Staff Spotlight: Tony Lyons

Name

Tony Lyons

What years were you at Camp, and what were your positions?

1968-71 camper
1976-80 staff
1985-86 director

What have you been up to since Camp?

Since leaving camp in 1986 my whole career has been involved in building affordable housing.  I work for a company called National Equity Fund that provides financing to developers and builders of affordable housing.  I work from my home in Old Saybrook but travel up and down the east coast from Maine to Florida.   I work with a lot of non-profit organizations working to house the homeless and young families struggling to make ends meet.  I love my work and knowing that I am helping people every day.

What’s your favorite part about Camp?

I loved everything about Camp.  We were all a big family and I have so many great memories.  If I had to pick a favorite part it was probably evening campfire, but followed closely by songs after meals.  When I was a staff member my favorite of day was taps, because the kids finally went to bed and staff got to hang out.  I still feel close to my many friends from camp and look forward to our next camp reunion..
